La Fête de la Musique is a festival that celebrates all kinds of music by all kinds of musicians (children, adults, amateurs and professionals). Created in France on 21 June 1982 to celebrate the first day of summer, La Fête de la Musique has been celebrated since then every year in more than 100 countries. Evidence indeed that music knows no boundaries
The main objective of this event is not only to attract musicians of all genres on the same platform, but t also to encourage peace and friendship among people, exchange experiences between upcoming and renowned musicians as well as mutual appreciation of artistic values from the different cultures.
In Uganda, Alliance Française with the support of the French Embassy have organized special celebrations to mark this Day in Kampala on Saturday, 19th June 2010 at the Alliance Française de Kampala Gardens (Nakasero) starting from 6.00pm till late under the theme: “Women and Music”.
“Women and Music” is a portrayal of the difficult journey often made by women to conquer their place on the music scene.
