    Code of Behaviour
The Baganda’s code of behavior is the strap that holds the bundle people together. The code of behavior is made up of very many rules. But the elders used to say, teach the child one rule and it will learn tens.

This code of behavior includes qualities like truthfulness, patience, kindness, consideration of others, hospitality, humbleness, forgiveness, good humour, peacefulness, hate of violence, hope, self confidence, patriotism, politeness, trustworthiness, fairness, industriousness, cleanliness, respect of self and of others

In agreement with these, to everything there is a Baganda way of doing it; To greet with both hands, offering one hand is for wrestlers. To sit decently, eat with the mouth closed, to drink without making sounds, to talk politely, walk gracefully etc…
So when someone who calls him/herself a Muganda systematically fails to follow these rules, he’s breaking the bonds that bind him to the rest of the bundle. In so doing he’s alienating himself, like declaring himself not a Muganda. And you’ll hear people say of him, “He’s such a thief, behaves like he’s not a Muganda.” Or that the way he sits makes you doubt their Bagandaness.

Where ever they came from and whatever they looked like, people who abide to this code of behavior are suspected of having Baganda blood. Because the bond that binds the Baganda into a togetherness knows no boundaries. It’s a bond that transcends matter, distance and time. It’s a spiritual thing.
