World Health Organization Donates Land Cruiser to Buganda Kingdom
The World Health Organization has donated a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser to Buganda Kingdom as a way of boosting the ministry of health for the Kingdom.

The Toyota Land cruiser that was received by Katikkiro Eng J.B. Walusimbi at Bulange- Mengo on Tuesday morning is basically to help improve on health service delivery within Buganda.

Katikkiro commended World Health Organization for the donation which he said has come at the appropriate time when Buganda has already launched the health camping campaign across its 18 counties. He added that the vehicle will help to ease transportation for the health personnel and the apparatuses on time.

The World Health Organization country representative in Uganda, Dr. Jaoquim Saweka who delivered the vehicle said that the donation is as a result of the long outstanding good working relationship between WHO and the Kingdom.

The minister for health in Buganda Kingdom, Nelson Kawalya hailed World Health Organization for the donation and appealed to the central government to exempt taxes from donations like the Land Cruiser meant to help the public.

Meanwhile the central government is in the final stages of paying their 2 billion shilling pledge towards the restoration of Kasubi Tombs.

Speaking to members of Mothers’ Union, Namirembe Diocese at Bulange – Mengo, the 1st deputy Katikkiro Amb Emmanuel Ssendaula said that when the tombs caught fire, government pledged 2 billion shillings towards Kasubi restoration since the tombs are a world heritage site.

Ssendaula explained that when Kasubi was selected as one of the world heritage sites, it necessitated the liaison of the central government and UNESCO into the management of the tombs but that ownership remains to the people of Buganda.

He explained further that the Kingdom has so far collected only 750 million Uganda shillings from different individuals and companies out of the 10 billion shillings required to restore Kasubi tombs and refurbish the rest of the tombs in Buganda.

The acting chairperson of Mothers’ Union, Namirembe Diocese Florence Wamala said that it’s their duty as people in Buganda to support the Kingdom’s programs. They contributed 1 million shillings towards this noble cause.
